Carol was born in Seattle, Washington. At an early age she moved to New Orleans in the first of many moves. Her life experiences have taken her to varied regions of the U.S. and abroad. She has lived in urban, suburban, and even rural, small-town communities. As a painter for over three decades, Carol has explored different avenues of human experience and universal themes. She has been a careful student of the conditions of portraiture and painting the human form but has taken it further. Carol's work is not related to place, but rather to her powers of observation which give the work its guts. She creates a balance between the abstract patterns of behavior and the more concrete patterns of the shapes that are created. Carol received her BFA at Texas A&M, Kingsville, Texas, in 1985. During post-graduate studies at the University of Houston, she was awarded first place in a national design competition. In addition to her work in painting, she has done significant work in the area of design. She has shown her work throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with many sales through private commissions and corporate collections in Chicago, Houston, LA, Seattle, and Miami. In June, 1999, Carol returned to Seattle with her husband, Joel, and daughter, Lauren. She is currently relocating to the east coast! |
